This one was for a company that installs the bollards on docks and piers, and wanted some photos and video to show off the project. A joint operation with photographer John Wadsworth, taking photos of a wonderful couple on the boardwalk at their Suffolk house. The Currituck Public Safety Building is now framed out, and the first floor floor is almost in place. The Armada Hoffler tower at 27th St. Virginia Beach just poured it’s top floor concrete. Its amazing how fast it has grown!
An ongoing shoot to cover the renovation of a beautiful old property in Suffolk VA. I will be revisiting regularly to follow the remodeling process. The Marina Villas Construction project in Norfolk has now come to an end. I will miss seeing it every few weeks. Virginia Beach Aerial Construction Shoot. Growing fast!Added: Saturday April 04th 2020By: Air Aspects Wow, the Virginia Beach oceanfront construction that started only a few months ago is already up to the 5th floor! I look forward to seeing how much it has grown every 2 weeks. An interesting project for the Coast Guard base in Portsmouth, VA. In this case, because it is military restricted airspace, I had to launch from the docks, and could not fly into the airspace at all. My ongoing construction project in Norfolk is getting closer to wrap up. At this point, there are only a few things to be done. Its been really interesting watching this building grow. Spring is here, and with it will come many people trying to sell their homes. This is traditionally the time that the market is deluged with new listings. When potential buyers and realtors are looking over the MLS properties, aerial shots of houses can tell much more about the area around the home. Aerial Shoot for a Rental Property in Cape Charles, VAAdded: Wednesday January 22nd 2020By: Air Aspects A beautiful sunny day for a rental house shoot just north of Cape Charles. This was an interesting shoot because the owner is applying to be a wedding/event location, and needed a visual representation of where things would be in relation to neighbors. WARNING: NSFW A visit to Cambridge Maryland to video the 2019 Warriors Rest Waterfowl Hunt. It was a great time, but SO cold thanks to a Canadian arctic blast. The video was produced from over 12 hrs of footage from 6 cameras, and is for their YouTube channel, and also for their website. A sunny day construction aerial shoot for Armada Hoffler, who have 2 projects under construction on 27th St., Virginia Beach. This project involved a few more hoops to jump through; I had to apply for a special 2 year waiver from the FAA, and have to stay in contact with the tower at nearby Oceana Naval Air Station. Accidents do happen, and if you’re flying illegally, you can expect a knock at the door. A California man ignored the FAA’s drone regulations whilst vacationing in Las Vegas. Not only was he flying in restricted airspace without permission, but he lost control of his drone, drifting away and landing next to an active runway at Las Vegas’ main airport. A company is offering parking lot maintenance and handyman services, and wanted video to highlight the things they do. Many people see the drone as a means to get rich quick. They buy a drone and say they’re an aerial photographer. However, once they buy the drone, they find out that there are requirements for registration, FAA testing, and licensing. Got interior and exterior footage, and even flew around indoors, which was awesome. The shoots were held over 3 visits. A great fun weekend filming at ’Warriors Rest’, an 80 acre property in Cambridge MD run by retired Navy SEAL Don Shipley and his wife, Diane. Their charity offers hunting retreats for wounded warriors, veterans and their families. The biggest issue was that inside the small metal hangar there was no GPS at all.. So I had to revert to the olden days (LOL 5 years ago) and fly-by-wire in and around the aircraft without a safety net! It was great fun, and a very interesting place to visit. The second promotional video for Hampton Marinas. This one is for Salt Ponds Marina Resort, on Hampton’s east coast. The first of 3 promo videos for 2 Hampton marinas to show off their facilities and attract boaters, and for a Homeowners association to attract home buyers. 1. Southall Landings Marina A quick demo showing overlaid graphics onto commercial buildings and land. Aerial video shoot at a beautiful waterfront (canal front) home in Hampton, VA, just a few minutes from the Chesapeake Bay. It was a ’what a coincidence’ shoot, as I have my boat literally at the marina at the end of their canal. The weather had been bad for several days, but finally we had a morning when the sun peeked through the clouds just long enough to get done. Several shoots encompassing not only the resort, but also several locations around Bermuda, and some other businesses like a sunset cruise catamaran. |
